The best aspect of this collection of shorts is the surprise plot twists that caught me delightfully off-guard. Futurism grounded in day to day life and, in one case, the courage of a very young girl are themes here. Very entertaining and delightfully different. Well done. One person found this helpful.
First, a disclaimer -- the author is my brother. Which if you knew the mean things he did to me as a kid smile would make you think I would give this no stars but, in all seriousness, these are excellent stories. I read these to my children and we all enjoyed them, although my seven year old enjoyed the ones involving guns more than just people arguing in a business meeting although that was my favorite one. The time travel one caught me by surprise and, at least for me, certainly affected my emotions.
Very well done. I read another reviewer who said these would make good Twilight Zone shows and I agree -- relatively short, fast paced, no fluff, and some cool twists where you look up from your kindle and go "Whoa The Chase and Other Short Stories is a very entertaining collection. The stories all move along very quickly, and the characters are developed just enough to help you relate to them without bogging down the plot.
The unexpected twists and turns keep you on the edge of your seat wondering what will happen next. My favorite was Between the Pages. I enjoy stories about time travel and this one had a different take on it than what we normally see. All in all, this book really catches your attention, and is definitely worth the read.
